My first Intarwebs experience was actually via a Random House sales rep, a friend of mine who crashed at my place in San Francisco on week while he was in from Seattle doing sales calls. He had with him a "laptop" that weighed about 17 pounds, had its own rolling wheely thing for transport and a big clunky mouse. And a 2400 baud rate modem. He sat on my couch, fired it up, plugged it into my phone jack and said "Wanna see the coolest thing ever???" and opened up Mosaic. He had a portal bookmarked, one called Babbage (anyone remember that?). HE plopped the whole thing in my lap and said "Just use the mouse to open the purple highlighted things. Watch what happens!" And I was off and running. It was....AWESOME! And I was hooked.

Ahem...when I was at...computer camp...we created programs on a very zeksi Apple IIe.

It's pretty friggin rad that a librarian introduced you to the interwebs. I don't think I remember where I first saw it myself. Damn. Though I do remember logging into AOL's People Magazine portal, going upstairs to make a grilled cheese, then back downstairs to see that the Jason Priestly cover story had only downloaded his sideburns.

But I digress...great post - yay library week!
