Digital Branding Elsewhere on the Web
by Ami Greko
Since the whole idea for a Sleekness digital branding week came from cool stuff I’d been reading elsewhere online, I’m not surprised to see some really smart posts on the topic popping up on other blogs. Here are a few of my favorites:
Corporate Branding: How-To and How-Not-To in One Simple Exercise (Digital Crows Nest)
Sleekness contributor William Johnson crunches comments on posts about the Amazon v Macmillan fight of late January (surely you remember?), and discovers what folks in publishing may have missed: public sentiment largely fell on the side of Amazon.
Do I Need the Middle? (Magellan Media)
Brian O’Leary (who will write for us one day, MARK MY WORDS!) on how once an author establishes a brand, the need for agents and publishers begins to lessen.
The Story of Sub Pop Records (Effdot.com)
Fred Rutherford, who spends his working life ruing the day his mother threw away his baseball card collection, draws some conclusions from the Sub Pop records brand that are relevant to publishers as well, including two that resonate with me: “Expertise Matters” and “Loving What You Do Matters.”
Did I miss any good ones?

LOL.. I don’t recall having been asked to write for The New Sleekness. Maybe it got lost in the mail
Thanks for linking over the my post. I appreciate the literate approach that you’re taking here, and I look forward to contributing something meaningful in the not too distant future. Just have to figure out what that looks like.
